Opportunity: Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an
exciting opportunity for a well-rounded risk control professional
to support our growing and diverse Construction Casualty business,
including Construction Projects, Contracting Practice,
Professional, and Pollution, concentrating on General Liability,
Auto Liability and Excess/Umbrella policies. Other lines of
business such as Products, Energy, Manufacturing, and
Transportation accounts are also supported. The position reports
directly to the VP Casualty Risk Control, however all Risk
Engineers at BHSI are fully integrated with the Underwriting
Team(s). In support of our North American region, the following
BHSI office locations will be considered: Atlanta, Chicago,
Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle. Duties &
Responsibilities: Evaluate complex technical risks and exposures
that could impact a wide book of business Create content and other
resources to address emerging and changing issues Support the
underwriting process through individual risk assessments and
technical research Lead customer visits for the purposes of
improving our knowledge of the risk Participate in customer and
broker meetings to strengthen our relationships and deliver our
value add proposition Support other lines of business as needed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 8 years of strong experience
working in safety engineering, risk management and/or loss control
disciplines Advanced knowledge of exposures and controls in
casualty lines of business with a strong technical background in
the construction industry. Experience in other industries including
energy, products, and transportation lines is a plus High aptitude
for technical writing and verbal communication, including
presentation experience Have a strong desire to build something
that adds long-term value to a forever business Be confident that
you will thrive in a rapidly growing, dynamic environment with
limited direction Have commitment to diligence, creativity and
ability to collaborate with all levels and all disciplines Ability
to multi-task and make quick decisions while maintaining integrity
and quality standards Ability to work within an office environment
and remotely depending on business needs Ability to travel – up 30%
of time, largely self-directed, across North America BS Degree in
Engineering, Science, Risk Management, Safety or equivalent field

base salary range for this position in locations listed above is
$130,000 - $175,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total
compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant
