Construction Crew Member (Remote) Job Description: Construction
Technician Position Overview: The Construction Technician is
responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks and
providing support as part of the wood pole inspection and
reinforcement teams. The primary function of this position is to
excavate around utility poles with a shovel, this role also
involves assisting skilled workers, operating basic machinery and
maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Key
Responsibilities: 1. Physical Tasks: - Perform manual labor tasks
such as lifting, carrying, digging and moving materials as needed.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials, tools or equipment at
job sites or within facilities. 1. Site Preparation and Cleanup: -
Prepare work areas by setting up barriers, removing debris and
organizing materials or tools. - Clean and maintain work areas,
ensuring they are free of hazards and clutter. 1. Support for
Skilled Workers: - Assist foreman by providing necessary tools,
materials and support during tasks. - Follow instructions and learn
basic skills to aid in specific job requirements. 1. Equipment
Operation: - Operate basic hand tools, power tools and machinery
under supervision and as directed by foreman. - Adhere to safety
protocols and guidelines while operating equipment or tools. 1.
Safety Compliance: - Follow safety regulations and guidelines to
ensure a safe work environment for oneself and others. - Report any
& all safety hazards, incidents or injuries immediately to
supervisors. 1. Communication and Collaboration: - Communicate
effectively with team members, and foreman. - Collaborate with
others to complete tasks efficiently and meet project goals.
Qualifications and Requirements: - Previous experience in general
labor, construction, manufacturing or related field is preferred. -
Understanding basic carpentry, masonry and other skilled trades is
a bonus. - Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks
for extended periods, including walking long distances on uneven
terrain while carrying up to 50 lbs. - Basic understanding of
safety and protocols in a work environment. - Ability to follow
instructions and work as part of a team. - Adaptability and
willingness to learn new tasks or skills. - Strong work ethic and
reliability. - Ability to perform fieldwork, and proficient use of
a shovel to excavate. - Ability to travel a minimum of 75%. - Valid
Driver's License with an approved MVR. Physical Requirements: -
Strength and Stamina: - Strength: Ability to lift, carry, and move
heavy objects and equipment. - Endurance: Capability to perform
physically demanding tasks for extended periods without excessive
fatigue. - Coordination and Dexterity: - Hand-eye Coordination:
Essential for operating machinery and tools accurately. - Manual
Dexterity: Ability to handle tools and materials skillfully and
safely. - Flexibility and Balance: - Flexibility: Ability to bend,
stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. -
Balance: Maintaining physical stability while performing tasks,
especially on uneven or unstable surfaces. - Physical Health: -
Healthy Back and Joints: Essential due to the repetitive bending,
lifting, and carrying. - Cardiovascular Health: Good overall
physical fitness to handle strenuous activities. Mental
Requirements: - Attention to Detail: - Precision: Ensuring accuracy
in measurements and execution of tasks. - Awareness: Staying alert
to avoid hazards and ensure safety. - Problem-Solving Skills: -
Critical Thinking: Ability to assess situations and identify
solutions to challenges that arise. - Adaptability: Adjusting
methods and strategies as needed when encountering obstacles. -
Communication Skills: - Clear Communication: Ability to understand
and follow instructions and convey information effectively to team
members. - Teamwork: Working well with others, coordinating
efforts, and sharing information. - Safety Consciousness: -
Knowledge of Safety Protocols: Understanding and adhering to safety
regulations and best practices. - Risk Management: Identifying
potential hazards and taking steps to mitigate them. - Technical
Knowledge: - Tool and Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with the
operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of digging tools. -
Basic Engineering Understanding: Knowledge of soil types,
excavation techniques, and structural considerations. Pay Scale:
