Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: Review and
applicability of road and waterway city and county code
requirements. Evaluate grading and drainage, storm water
conveyance, treatment and attenuation systems, potable, fire and
sewer systems, erosion control, pedestrian ingress/egress ways and
ADA accessibility, vehicular traffic ingress/egress, turn lane
design including curb and gutter, paved shoulder, marking, and
signing plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and asphalt pavement
mix designs, Determine of the cause, origin, and extent of
structural building system failures, water intrusions, roof damage,
settlement damage, construction defects and building system
failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing. Assignments
may include foundation settlement investigations, structural
assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations and
vibration analysis. Conduct unbiased investigations for various
types of clients. Responsible for retention and development of
client relations. Prepare oral and written reports in layman's
terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and
recommended remediation. Deliver professional presentations,
develop client relationships and promote self to client groups.
Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in
legal proceedings. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by
attending educational workshops; reviewing professional
publications; establishing personal networks; participating in
professional societies. Position Requirements: Bachelor's Degree
required, Master's Degree preferred in Civil or Structural
Engineering preferred P. E. Registration required through testing
Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic civil roadway experience
Roadway design/ construction and maintenance of traffic experience
Illinois S.E. (Structural Engineer) a plus Must possess strong
writing skills Public speaking experience a plus Exceptional
interpersonal and communication skills Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
